RBTech IT – ASAT
A Registered Biology Technologist in Training (RBTech in Training) is acquiring the experience and competencies required to be a practicing registrant. They must work under the supervision of an RPBio or RBTech when performing the reserved practice of applied biology.

Education and Experience

Experience includes paid and voluntary activities that occurred in the last 10 years. Up to one year of experience may be pre-graduation.

An applicant who is already a registrant with the College (or an equivalent professional regulator in another jurisdiction) may claim all their applied biology experience gained while registered (pre- or post- graduation).

Required Courses

RBTech applicants must have completed the following courses:

Communications: Have you completed a communications course? *
Examples include English composition, technical writing, scientific writing.
Math or Statistics: Have you completed a math or statistics course? *
Field or Laboratory Techniques: Have you completed a course in Field Techniques or Laboratory Techniques? *
Conservation or Resource Management: Have you completed a conservation or resource management course? *
Examples include Conservation Biology, Environmental Biology, Wildlife Management, Fisheries Management, Range Management, Natural Resource Policy, or Landscape Ecology.
Environmental or Earth Science: Have you completed an environmental or earth science course? *
A course in environmental science covers multi-disciplinary topics related to natural resource use and sustainability. Examples include fish and wildlife ecology, environmental legislation and policy, earth science, soils, hydrology, climatology.
