ABT Form – ASAT
An Applied Biology Technician (ABT) works collaboratively with RBTechs and RPBios and plays a large role in the implementation of biological projects. ABTs must work under the supervision of an RBTech or RPBio when performing the reserved practice of applied biology.

Required Courses

ABT applicants must have completed the following courses:

Natural Resource Survey Skills: Have you taken a course or module in natural resource survey skills? *
For example, this should cover data collection, proper field note taking, common field equipment requirements, use, maintenance and care, quality assurance and data integrity and security.
Applied Biology Identification Skills: Have you taken a course or module in applied biology identification skills? *
For example, a course or module that covers the identification of plants, fish, mammals, birds, or insects and the differences between groups (e.g., trees, shrubs, mosses). It may also include the collection, labeling and preservation of a specimen.
Field Navigation: Have you taken a course or module in field navigation? *
For example, a course or module that covers navigation skills required for field work (using maps, GPS, etc.).
